After many yearly family boat trips in the Pacific Northwest, Stan and Judy Stearns started to search for a place to moor their sailboat, the Arabella. They ended up building Arabella's Landing Marina, which opened in the fall of 1993. As long-time boaters themselves, they added amenities to the property that keep visiting boaters coming back again and again.

Though the Stearns family sailboat is named the Arabella, the marina is actually named in tribute to the original Arabella, the ship that brought the Stearns family to the United States from England in 1630. The Stearns geneology book includes a painting of the original Arabella, which was used to create the ship in the Arabella's Landing logo.
